HANDICAP CUP SEMI FINAL - JETS FALCONS bt WWCC in unfortunate circumstances

As always in the Handicap Cup the unopened envelope containing the match handicap magic number was on the table before the proceedings commenced.

I asked everyone if it was OK to do some video of the match to get up on the Watford Blog and once explained no one had a problem with it.

No sooner had the first game got underway, into the 3rd leg and Roger Pyle caught his bat on the end of the table and strained his wrist which was to eventually cause him to retire from the match injured. See video below which is the 3rd leg to see how Roger actually got hurt!

Once this game was over it took the next game Howard Davies playing Ian Hamilton for Roger to realise his wrist had swollen and that it would be difficult for him to continue. Below an extract from the second game.

By the time Roger was due to play his next game, WWCC (as it turned out) had the upperhand, however this was soon made irrelevent as Roger quickly realised that his wrist was too painful to play on. The effect of this was to hand the fixture to Jets Falcons and the match was over. A real disappointment for all concerned, although it was decided to continue with the match as everyone had turned up to play a game of Table Tennis so we did just that. The handicap was actually 96 which was not as high as expected!!

Two more games were caught on Video although they were to have no effect on the match outcome, Howard Davies playing Watford's lady table tennis legend Sally Bax, and Chris Ogle (WWCC) playing Ian Hamilton.
