Jets Club Swine Flu misery

Last week Queens School was closed  (22nd-26th June)as 10 or so Swine Flu cases were diagnosed. Players turned out for the Summer league on Thursday only to find that the whole school had been shut down over the flu virus.

Stuart Seaholme returning from vacation on Friday 26th sent out this email note below :-

My apologies to anyone who made a wasted trip to Queens this week. I was away on holiday & returned yesterday to find message on answer phone to contact the school. Spoke to administrator this morning and the school was shut down following incidents of swine flu. It reopens next week so Tuesday club as usual and Thursday organised matches. Do hope to see you there.
 
Last season Jets entered 16 teams in the Watford League and it is hoped that we can increase this year. However I do need your cooperation. At present I have enough replies to turn out 3 teams !. Another application form is attached. If would be good to have some photo's & profiles for entry on the web site. Please respond to me without delay. Any queries call or email me.
 
If you know anyone who does not use there email please phone them so they are kept up to date.

As Stuart is indicating so far the amount of Teams (so far) indicating they will play next week is a tad light, so please everyone get your applications in so that the committee can sort out the fixtures for 2009/10.

One of the Rarest sites in Table tennis

I consider myself to be more fortunate than most, below I managed to catch on my mobile phone the rarest of events in the local league. Indeed so rare an event was this, that my only opportunity to sneak this specimen was during a match in the chalfont league where we may have only had two players!!

 

I'm not sure what has happened to good old Winston now, but I'm sure for many of you this will have been the first time to see him in the umpires chair !!

Summer League gets underway !

The Watford & District Summer Table tennis league got underway at Queens school - Jets Table Tennis club last week on Thursday 11th June.

Sixteen people turned up. Range of standard from all divisions. The players were arranged into 4 groups of 4. Each match best of 3. Top 2 from each group go into an American style knockout, so winners go one way losers the other. Bottom 2 in each group go to form another american style knockout. 

Everyone enjoys plenty of TT against a variety of opponents. A bargain at £2 a head! It helps if players intending to attend notify Jim before the night so that the competition can be adjusted to suit.

Next week the league will take place in the hall but will be back into the gym from the 25th June. Tables are ready for warm up and knocking by 7.30pm. All Matches commence at 8pm.

Hopefully Jim and Barry will be able to supply regular updates for the Blog so that subscribers can keep up to date with all the news. Would be nice to pop a couple of pictures up there as well Jim / Barry! or Video? see what you can do... your table tennis blog needs you.

And don't forget your profiles everyone for the Teams / Players section... haven't received anything yet !!

Team and Player registrations for 2009/10

The team and player registrations are due for the 2009/10 season. Please ensure that you have your registrations back to Geof Bax by 30th June 2009.

The most essential is the Team Registration. The league is formed and the fixtures program worked out directly from these forms without them we cannot do the planning for next year.

Jets Club Membership Renewals 2009/10

Your individual membership expires on the 30th June 2009. Please complete your application for the new season & send with your payment to Stuart Seaholme as soon as possible. If you require a club shirt please indicate your size and add Ł8 to your payment.
 
It is important that we know your intentions now so we can plan the teams for the coming season. The League committee has to have the club's team entries by July to be able to plan the divisions and fixtures. As far as possible we will meet your requests on playing preferences and will come back to you if we have a difficulty. Please be as flexible as you can on your choice of home night and if possible indicate more than one night. I do hope you all intend to join but even if not please let me know as it will help in our planning and stop me sending reminders.
 
If you go to the league website www.watfordtt.co.uk you can register on the blog. This will mean that you will automatically be undated by email of all new entries.

Whilst on the site click on "Teams and Players". Look at what Chris, Roger and Howard have done. Let me have your profile so the site can be really interesting.

Watford Table Tennis - Summer League news

Commencing Thursday 11th June

We are starting a summer season at Queens. Competitive matches arranged. Tables will be ready for practice from 7.30pm and competition will start no later than 8pm. The first 2 weeks ( 11th and 18th June ) will be played in the hall but after that we shall be back in the gym.

All standards welcome. Cost Ł2 per evening. To enable us to plan we would prefer to know at least the day before if you are coming. Do this by email to Jim Constable on jimsothermail@ntlworld.com . Please notify any friends who you think may wish to take part but may not get or perhaps not read their emails.
