In division 1 Eagles and Post Office played each other in the eagerly awaited top of the table clash.
Post Office were two points ahead of Eagles before the start of the match thanks to West Watford beating Eagles 6-2 in the previous match and Post Office winning 5-3 against Gazelles, thanks to a last minute doubles win.
Brian Clark played Les Leach first and the defensive skills of Les were too good and Les won 3-0.
James Banfield then played David Edwards in a very close match. David won the first game but then James won the next two. David fought hard and took the match into a deciding game winning the fourth 14-12. David had a good start in the final game and managed to hold on winning 11-6 for his first win against James.
At 2-0 the usually consistent Abdul Rahim lost in straight games to a determined but unusually defensive Ian Banfield.Les beat James 3-1 to make the score 3-1.
Abdul played more like his usual self to beat Brian in straight games to make the score 4-1 to Post Office.
David then played Ian and found himself 2-0 down to the very consistent defence of Ian. David fought back to win the next two games to force another deciding game. Ian was struggling with a back injury by this stage but his consistent defence and many errors by David saw him through 11-8.
At 4-2 Abdul played James in what is always a very close affair. This proved to be the case again and Abdul was victorious again in four games.
At 5-2 the match was effectively over but Les and David and Ian and Brian played the doubles. Ian and Brian won the first two games easily but, with pride at stake, Les and David won the last three games for a 6-2 win to maintain first place in the division.
A very enjoyable match played in good spirit.
