Roger Pyle and Chris Ogle represented Hertfordshire Veterans again last weekend. The fixtures were played at St. Neots Table tennis club near Huntingdon and Herts played against Norfolk 3 in the morning and Cambridge 1st in the afternoon. Herts also had June Nelson and Mark McCarthy in their team.
The first match Herts won 10-0 only one game going to 4 legs and one other going to 5, this match was completed well before any of the other matches in the first session.
The afternoon match was a different affair. Cambridge 1st are currently in top spot in the division, but with Mick Harper playing at No.3 this was likely to be a difficult match. As it was, June Nelson had an excellent win in the singles and won both her Mixed doubles with Mark McCarthy and Chris. Roger and Chris narrowly lost the Mens doubles 11-9 in the fifth, and even a resounding win by Chris against David Tiplady was unable to avoid the defeat... Herts went down eventually 6-4.
