I actually did laugh out loud at that - have they been watching you in action in the Watford league Dave? :-)

I am glad you enjoyed the article. It is almost 10 years old now.
I don't know where you found the "without actually playing it" quote. I read it through again and is says " I wanted to be close to the game and you can not get much closer than being an umpire"
