Standing outside a dark and deserted opponents venue I wondered if I had the right night and not having my computer with me I couldn't look up a phone number to call.
Whilst wandering over to Tescos to get a sausage roll we bumped into the opponents captain who deserves credit for appearing to announce the game was conceded coz he was down to two players thro injury and then down to one player coz the other at 6.30 that evening decided to do something else.
Most annoying James woke up specially to play and Brian could have played in either of his other teams.
I was told that attempts were made by the wife to phone and email me? Under 'Teams and Players' still listed is a phone number connected to a fax machine that isnt and never has been mine and a mobile number that hasnt been mine for 3 years or more. Dave Edwards had this same trouble earlier in the season. I know there is a second list of teams and captains buried somewhere in the site but even that is incorrect with the fone number and also still has my email address incorrectly listed.
I didn't have a view on an online handbook but now I say the idea is stupid and next season there must again be a printed handbook! Do we need a handbook?
Sorry if the online hand book was your idea Chris LOL nobody will respond tho!

Haha... Nice post... and of course it deserves a reply!!
Anyhow as I did suggest it and YOU are the first to complain... it would indicate that it was a good idea.
Your point about the Contact details being inaccurate is quite well made. However computers can only reproduce what is entered and if it is wrong then it needs correcting not moaning about. Within your grumble you could of course have provided the correct details, Gordon Hitchman, Stuart Seaholme for the Jets teams and David Edwards have already been kind enough to do this when they spotted it was wrong.
There is on the site... (not buried at all) two links one to a quick contact list which has all the teams and phone numbers with a print button so that people can produce a phone list and pop it into their Table Tennis bag or bat holder so that they have the phone numbers available. The second is in the Teams & Players section which provides more comprehensive details about everyone, even their work details are starting to make their way onto the site!
As a computer user and a regular contributor to the site, you will recognise that the Watford league has come a long way in the past 10 months since the Blog came to be... a few teething problems such as this were bound to happen... but we are almost there...
I would be grateful for everyone if they would check their details and notify me of any anomalies so that they can be fixed and we can banish dark wet cold experiences on the streets of Watford forever!
N.B. If we got a high vote in favour of bringing back (what would in my opinion be a waste of money, time and effort) a handbook then of course it would be done... The administrators of the league are here to provide the members with what they want of course. The alternative is to print out the quick contact sheet (providing it was correct), a two minute once off operation, (which is the only thing people used from the handbook anyway) and put this with your Table Tennis stuff.
As mentioned at the meeting before the season started, anyone who has difficulty using a computer, finds it a struggle to work a printer or doesn't have a computer at all, could ask a team member to provide a copy for them.

Dont worry Chris, I dont feel that strongly that I will formally propose a return to the printed handbook, tho i would now vote in favour if somebody else did!
I am pleased I am the first to complain. Gives me a sense of well being :)
If Stuart notified you of Jets corrections then he must have forgotten that I exist because I, at the time not knowing you existed , told President Seaholme of the incorrect mobile and email address. Therefore you may apologise for suggesting I hadnt informed anybody.
Where is the second link to info that can be printed? tho i dont see what use printing incorrect fone nos is.lol
Sally Bax certainly didnt get my correct fone no. from the web site when she wanted to tell me she was postponing our game due to having two players. Ooh! Sadly there was also a snow flake that week!
I dont know what things were like ten months ago. I didnt even know there was a web site or the now famous watford Blog until a few weeks ago.
Will you please enter correct details as follows

I sent an email a week or so ago that my phone numbers are against Graham Spooner's name as captain of Watling A.

Hi David... if you let me know exactly what needs to be sorted, the correct numbers and against which names... I will then make sure the changes are reflected in the site.

Hi Ian,
OK to get to the printable Quick Contact List, when you first arrive on the site, or if you use the [home] button on the top left, you will see a series of buttons for results, fixtures etc... with these, on the right side is a button [Quick Contact List] click this and a new window will open with all the contacts listed... there is a small print icon there at the top, using this will then print the contents of the page (providing there is a printer attached to the computer)... hope this helps...
