I arrived at 7:20pm to a Jets club somewhat in disarray... Stuart's absence at the World Junior Championships (where son Tim is coach to the NZ Junior squad) was made obvious as the teams hurriedly set up the Tables and barriers... Stuart normally has this all sorted well before 7pm on match nights!!
Our fixture against a BATS side made up of Steve Leven, Adam Johnson and Dave Warren promised to be an interesting affair... Yet again UPA unable to field their complete regular side, Chris Ogle playing his 2nd match in 4 weeks, Alan Thomas (no reported issues) and Zoltan playing up from the 'B' team due to an uncharacteristically ill Roger Pyle... who has obviously got into the Xmas spirit a tad early! (...only joking Roger! He has a very bad chest infection... get well soon matey!)
First set was between Adam and Zoltan which Adam won on their last two encounters, but tonight Zoltan was on a mission and took the tie, 3-0, then Alan Thomas beat Steve Leven, although I think from what I remember Steve was way ahead in 2 if not all three legs. The 3rd set was Chris vs. Dave, where Dave really struggled to find any kind of form... Chris took that also 3-0... so the match going all UPA's way at the moment.
Steve Leven stopped the rot with a 3-0 legs victory over a disappointed Zoltan, and then Chris 'O' turned up the pressure with a 3-2 win over Adam, the only set that went to five and probably set of the night to be fair!
The remainder of the Sets also went UPA way and the final score was 7-1, so max points to UPA and nothing for BATS on this outing. Match finished at 10pm... after a pretty late 7:55pm start... good match with no issues... Match card for the night shown below :-
Match Report : Chris Ogle

As i recall all the tables were set up before 7.30....so cant really blame the club for your late start.

Hi Karl, apologies if my report inferred that was the reason for the late start... it was merely a comment on what a great job Stuart does... our late start was due to other factors... nothing to do with the hall set up...
