Site updating and new Facebook Page

Hi All,

Well a new season has arrived already and summer too by the looks of the temperatures over the past few days... feels like we should be putting the bats away not taking them out!

I am getting around to sorting out the website hopefully this week all the information will be pretty much up to date finally.

For those who are engaged on Facebook I have created a Facebook page for the Watford Table tennis league. This may well engender some interest from local talent if they do not yet know how wonderful Table tennis is... just use the 'Like' button on the far right hand column to instantly like the blog and start receiving updates in your Facebook timeline!

Watford Table Tennis League AGM 23rd May

The Watford and District Table Tennis Leagues AGM will be held at Queens School on Monday 23rd May 2011. Please ensure that each club has at least one representative at the meeting!

2 New Links added to the Links Page!!

To ensure that we get the most out of our Table Tennis we have added two new links to the Links section on the website... this can be found to the far right of the home page... interestingly labelled 'LINKS'

The first is from Stuart, who advised me that the ITTF now have a table tennis You Tube channel, catch all the world class action from the International circuit.

The Second Link is our very own Watford Table Tennis league Forum. I have set this up so that we can all participate on raising issues and the discussion threads can remain there for all to see. The main advantage is that all related comments are kept together, so it is much easier than email, and copying everyone in all the time. *** NEW *** Watford Table Tennis FORUM!!

I have recently set up a forum for the Watford & District Table Tennis league. For those people who have not used forums before this is how they work.

Individuals can start a 'Thread' which is just a discussion topic, which could be on anything, such as Bat Coverings, or Table Tennis rules or anything. Then others can join in the discussion by replying to the initial post... as the discussion develops people can see all the comments easily and in one place... and it is much more appropriate than a long Blog diatribe.

In order to participate you will need to register... I would suggest watching the video below to see how to do that, and get an introduction to the forum.

1st of 3 Watford Table Tennis League debating evenings!

As I have mentioned previously I would like to encourage debate and discussion about Table Tennis in our Watford League. We regularly revisit this at the end of the season prior to the AGM, when there is a mad scramble to bring about change in time for the deadline 30 days prior to the meeting.

Normally this results in poorly worded amendments and changes that are not really thought through sufficiently to be voted in successfully. This initiative is to give us all a chance to air our views and perhaps bring about positive and effective changes that might potentially increase the attractiveness of the sport and make it more competitive and enjoyable for all concerned.

The first meeting is set for Monday 1st November... the meeting will be chaired by myself and be at Queens School (hopefully). All are welcome to attend... the meeting will start at 8pm

Player Licences Update !!!

The season fast approaches now... we are a few days away... on Monday 6th September at the Committee meeting Geof Bax confirmed he had about half of the player licence numbers.

Please Note... I am going to remind you of the three choices you have BEFORE the season starts to become eligible to play in the Watford league... IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE ONE OF THESE THREE BEFORE THE 1ST MATCH YOU PLAY THEN YOU RUN THE RISK OF HAVING YOUR GAMES SCRATCHED FROM THE MATCH!!

1. Register with the ETTA by phone, or online, pay your licence fee and then give your licence number to Geof Bax. Email Geof with your details on geofbax@hotmail.com or Call him on : 01923 461733 
2. Give Geof a completed Licence Application Form with the appropriate payment as a cheque made out to the ETTA. No Money no acceptance... completed forms along with some lame diatribe like... I'll give you the money later = your matches will be forfeit!
3. You can advise Geof that you have registered in another league in which case you should be able to give Geof a Licence number... or if that league has received your cheque and completed form, then advise Geof who to contact to check this out along with the League you have chosen to register with.

REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. PLEASE AVOID ACRIMONY AND MAKE SURE YOUR LICENCE IS IN ORDER. IF THE LEAGUE TAKE A DECISION ON A SET OF GAMES BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT ADHERED TO THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE, THEN IT IS NOBODY'S FAULT BUT YOUR OWN...

DON'T LEAVE THIS TO CHANCE OR THE LAST MINUTE. THE RULES ARE SIMPLE GEOF WILL PROVIDE ME WITH A LIST OF PLAYERS WHO HAVE FAILED TO DO ONE OF THE ABOVE, THIS WILL BE PUBLISHED ON THE WEBSITE, AND UPDATED WEEKLY. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS AND THERE WILL BE NO DEBATE, SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR TEAM COMPLIES WITH THE ABOVE AND SAVE ANY PROBLEMS LATER ON.

LET ME JUST CLARIFY ONCE MORE... IF YOU FIELD A PLAYER WHO HAS NOT DONE ONE OF THE ABOVE 3 OPTIONS AND PLAYS IN A MATCH... THE GAMES WILL BE FORFEIT!!!

New Season is almost upon us!

I hope everyone has been practicing hard? Well if you haven't, time to dust off the Table tennis bat and get ready for action... the season is a mere 2 weeks away now!

The website will soon be updated with all the latest fixture information but if you want a sneak advance view of the fixtures for the coming season here they are as a word document

The Website will be updated over the coming weeks, this however gives those who do play in other leagues an opportunity to start working out your dates and clashes before the season gets under way.

Many thanks to Gordon Hitchman for his work in putting the fixtures together which have been subject to all sorts of odd requests this season.
